Our community golf course is nearing completion!

All hole shaping is finished, and the entire golf course has been fully grassed and sprigged. A special thank you and congratulations to all of our partners who have played a vital role in bringing this beautiful golf course to life.

Grow-in of the golf course continues with our talented agronomy team actively nurturing, mowing, irrigating, and refining the turf over the coming months to prepare it for play. We want to recognize our superintendent, Michael Shafer, and assistant superintendent, Zachary Allen, for their leadership, hard work, and care throughout the build and the grow‑in process.

Village Construction Update

Work is also progressing rapidly at the site of our amenity village. The aerial image below provides an overview of all of our amenities.

From left to right are the First Tee Academy, The Pavilion outdoor bar, The Gimme concessions area, the Cart Barn, the Golf Shop, and Oakwood Grill overlooking the water, with the practice range located in the foreground.

Additional photos below highlight ongoing construction progress, including steel framing and exterior sheathing installation at Oakwood Grill, The Pavilion, and The Gimme.

Our continued thanks go to all of our partners, contractors, and teams whose dedication and expertise are bringing The Gate Golf Club to life.

As the year draws to a close, the course is taking on its final form. Crews are shaping key golf course features on the remaining holes—1 and 9—while additional grass coverage, landscaping, and finishing details will be added across the course in the months ahead.

At the Village area, some of the course’s most memorable views are coming to life, with the lakefront Oakwood Grill set to become a true standout. Buildings are rising and netting pole bases are now being set at the practice range.

In the coming months, we’ll be sharing new opportunities to join our growing team. Be sure to visit our Career Opportunities page to learn more—we’d love to connect with you.

Here’s an update on progress made during November!

Course and Village Construction Update

We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving! We’re very grateful to our project partners for the tremendous progress at The Gate Golf Club.

The majority of the course is now sodded, and sprigging of the putting greens with TifEagle bermudagrass and the remaining fairways with Celebration bermudagrass will begin in early December.

Within the Village construction site, masonry walls rose across multiple buildings, giving the area greater definition, while structural steel is progressing at the Oakwood Grill restaurant.

At the same time, structural steel and metal roofing were installed at the Maintenance and Environmental buildings, which are on track to be completed next month.

Looking ahead, the driving range netting poles will be installed, giving the site a true driving-range appearance and providing a clearer picture of the facility’s final layout.

Site Visit from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Students

We had the pleasure of hosting students from the Florida Gulf Coast University PGA Golf Management Program (PGM) for an educational site visit. The field day provided an excellent opportunity to showcase how this course, designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, is being built with a focus on challenge, playability, and environmental sensitivity.

The students spent the day learning from our Superintendent, Mike Shafer, and our team about golf course construction and how this project will create more opportunities for people to enjoy golf. They gained hands-on insight into course feature shaping, irrigation and drainage systems, earthwork and lake development, and the sustainable practices we use to ensure the course is both high-quality and environmentally responsible.

The golf course is coming to life! This month brought incredible progress as holes 4 through 8 are now sodded and a vibrant shade of green. Crews have been working efficiently to install sod during the warm season, taking advantage of ideal growing conditions to promote strong turf establishment and coverage.

Grading has begun at the driving range, which will measure approximately 320 yards in length and feature Celebration Bermudagrass in the landing area. The tee line will be a one-story facility, designed for both functionality and a premium player experience.

Meanwhile, things are taking off at the Village site — building foundations are being poured, and walls are going vertical! At the future home of Oakwood Grill, stem walls and columns are taking shape, while footers are complete at The Pavilion, pro shop, and The Gimme concessions area — huge milestones as each unique space starts to come to life.

Located between holes 3 and 7, the Maintenance and Environmental Buildings have now had their concrete slabs poured. These facilities will provide essential support for daily course operations, equipment maintenance, and environmental management initiatives.

Concrete cart paths are now complete alongside holes 4, 5 and 6. The course will include continuous paths throughout, yet it’s also been thoughtfully designed for walking — giving players the flexibility to enjoy their round on foot or by cart.

Thank you to everyone who’s played a role in this progress — from our construction teams and partners to the community following along with us!

Here’s a look at the progress we’ve made at The Gate Golf Club this September!

Village Update

Construction of the new Oakwood Grill is moving forward quickly. With the layout of the building pad complete, foundation work is the next milestone. Oakwood Grill will be a full-service, American-style restaurant featuring both indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views of the Himalayas putting green and hole 9. Open to the public seven days a week for lunch and dinner, it will provide an elevated yet approachable dining experience, with a scratch kitchen focused on fresh ingredients, local provisions, and sustainability.

Complementing the Oakwood Grill, The Gimme will deliver a modern concessions experience with breakfast options, freshly prepared food, and bar service for golfers and practice area guests.

The Pavilion will be a lively open-air bar where guests can enjoy a drink, order from The Gimme menu, watch the game on TV, and connect in a welcoming community space.

Course Update

On the course, shaping work is progressing on holes 1–3 and hole 9. Sod is being installed around bunkers, greens, and tee boxes, while irrigation continues to expand across the property. September also marked an exciting milestone as landscaping officially began throughout the golf course.

Sustainability remains central to our approach. Rock excavated from new ponds is being repurposed as base rock for golf cart paths. Large cap-rock boulders are being reused to create a signature stone feature at one of the tee boxes. All shaping soil has been harvested directly from the property, with no outside fill brought in. Cleared trees and shrubs have been mulched and redistributed across the course, including beneath trees, along curbs, and beside maintenance roads.

We are anticipating a Fall 2026 opening of The Gate Golf Club, complete with all amenities, and look forward to welcoming the community to enjoy everything it has to offer.

News

August has brought significant construction progress across multiple areas of the golf course and Village. The Glase Golf and DeAngelis Diamond crews have been working tirelessly through the Florida summer heat, and we sincerely thank them for their dedication to keeping the project moving forward.

Bunker construction is advancing with the installation of liner systems that protect against erosion and improve drainage, while Celebration sod has been laid around the bunkers to provide additional erosion control. With these enhancements taking shape, the course is truly beginning to look like a golf course.

Additional Celebration sod has also been installed around the lake on holes 3 and 7. Beyond enhancing the course’s early beauty, this sod plays a functional role by stabilizing the banks, preventing erosion, and improving water quality by reducing runoff into the lake.

The irrigation wet well installation has been successfully completed, marking a major milestone in the course’s infrastructure. This system will provide a dependable water supply to the irrigation pump station, ensuring consistent pressure and improved irrigation performance across the property.

The main loop of the irrigation system is approximately 60 percent complete, and lateral lines continue to be installed in the fairways, to tees, and around putting greens.  Once fully operational, these systems will provide uniform coverage and support sustainable turf growth.

Fairways, tee boxes, and putting greens are continuing to be shaped into their final contours, while regular watering is being maintained to minimize dust and support the healthy establishment of new sod.

We are very grateful for the community’s continued support and look forward to sharing new milestones as the project advances.
