Here’s a look at the progress we’ve made at The Gate Golf Club this September!

Village Update

Construction of the new Oakwood Grill is moving forward quickly. With the layout of the building pad complete, foundation work is the next milestone. Oakwood Grill will be a full-service, American-style restaurant featuring both indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views of the Himalayas putting green and hole 9. Open to the public seven days a week for lunch and dinner, it will provide an elevated yet approachable dining experience, with a scratch kitchen focused on fresh ingredients, local provisions, and sustainability.

Complementing the Oakwood Grill, The Gimme will deliver a modern concessions experience with breakfast options, freshly prepared food, and bar service for golfers and practice area guests. 

The Pavilion will be a lively open-air bar where guests can enjoy a drink, order from The Gimme menu, watch the game on TV, and connect in a welcoming community space.

Course Update

On the course, shaping work is progressing on holes 1–3 and hole 9. Sod is being installed around bunkers, greens, and tee boxes, while irrigation continues to expand across the property. September also marked an exciting milestone as landscaping officially began throughout the golf course.

Sustainability remains central to our approach. Rock excavated from new ponds is being repurposed as base rock for golf cart paths. Large cap-rock boulders are being reused to create a signature stone feature at one of the tee boxes. All shaping soil has been harvested directly from the property, with no outside fill brought in. Cleared trees and shrubs have been mulched and redistributed across the course, including beneath trees, along curbs, and beside maintenance roads.

We are anticipating a Fall 2026 opening of The Gate Golf Club, complete with all amenities, and look forward to welcoming the community to enjoy everything it has to offer.

August has brought significant construction progress across multiple areas of the golf course and Village. The Glase Golf and DeAngelis Diamond crews have been working tirelessly through the Florida summer heat, and we sincerely thank them for their dedication to keeping the project moving forward.

Bunker construction is advancing with the installation of liner systems that protect against erosion and improve drainage, while Celebration sod has been laid around the bunkers to provide additional erosion control. With these enhancements taking shape, the course is truly beginning to look like a golf course.

Additional Celebration sod has also been installed around the lake on holes 3 and 7. Beyond enhancing the course’s early beauty, this sod plays a functional role by stabilizing the banks, preventing erosion, and improving water quality by reducing runoff into the lake.

The irrigation wet well installation has been successfully completed, marking a major milestone in the course’s infrastructure. This system will provide a dependable water supply to the irrigation pump station, ensuring consistent pressure and improved irrigation performance across the property. 

The main loop of the irrigation system is approximately 60 percent complete, and lateral lines continue to be installed in the fairways, to tees, and around putting greens.  Once fully operational, these systems will provide uniform coverage and support sustainable turf growth.

Fairways, tee boxes, and putting greens are continuing to be shaped into their final contours, while regular watering is being maintained to minimize dust and support the healthy establishment of new sod.

The golf course is now visibly taking shape — from above, the layout is clearly defined and recognizable as a golf course, as captured in the impressive drone photos below. The course is set in a parkland environment—mostly flat terrain and bordered by clusters of old-growth trees. The course routing works with the land’s natural contours, minimizing major earthworks and preserving the site’s original character. 

On the ground, Glase Golf Construction continues to make steady progress. Course shaping is nearly complete on holes 4 through 7, marking a significant milestone in the build-out. Wastebunker development is underway and sand mix is being placed in the putting greens. Excavation work continues on the two ponds at holes 1 and 9, with earthmoving operations on track for completion next month. At the driving range, rock crushing continues, producing usable base material for The Village’s infrastructure. In July, the crews also installed a temporary irrigation pump station and intake, which now support continued irrigation installation across several holes. Next month, the team will focus efforts on shaping holes 2 and 3.

Meanwhile, at The Village site, DeAngelis Diamond is carrying out large-scale site grading and forming building pads in preparation for upcoming vertical construction. These foundational efforts are helping to prepare the area for the next phase of development, ensuring continued progress in the weeks ahead.

Exciting progress is underway as construction has officially begun on the Village! The team from DeAngelis Diamond—a recognized leader in construction—has initiated early-stage work, including site grading in preparation for the development of the driving range with covered hitting bays, restaurant, Pavilion bar, concessions area, cart barn, pro shop, maintenance building, and First Tee facility.

On the golf course, Glase Golf has begun pond excavation on holes 7 and 9. As shown in the routing plan, hole 9 will be enhanced by a pond located behind the green and along the right side of the fairway. This will not only create a picturesque backdrop for golfers approaching the final green but also provide an exciting view for guests dining on the outdoor terrace at Oakwood Grill. The ponds on the course will also serve several practical purposes including supporting water retention, reducing the risk of flooding, and acting as a reservoir for irrigation. 

This past month, Glase Golf also began shaping holes 2 and 7, adding golf course features including tees, sand bunkers, natural waste areas, and putting greens. 

Additionally, consistent with United States Golf Association (USGA) specifications, a gravel blanket has been installed on putting green 6. While Southwest Florida’s native soil is naturally sandy and encourages drainage, the gravel layer provides a stable foundation for the sand root zone which will go above the gravel layer, helping to preserve the green’s shape and structural integrity over time. It also enhances overall drainage efficiency by allowing water to move quickly from the sand layer into the underlying drainage pipes, keeping the green firm and playable during and after rainfall.

(NAPLES, Florida) 

In May, the crew from Glase Golf Construction, together with Jacobsen Hardy Golf Design, completed the rough shaping of tees, bunkers and putting greens on holes 5, 6 and 8. Next month, the focus of construction will be the shaping of holes 2, 7 and excavation of the ponds on holes 9 and 7.

Major drainage infrastructure continues to be installed on all 9 holes. Minor or smaller drainage pipe will connect to this larger drainage pipe as part of the overall engineered project drainage system. Proper subsurface and surface drainage is crucial to maintaining firm fairways and preventing wet playing conditions after rainfall. This is especially important in our Southwest Florida climate as we generally see increased rainfall during the summer months. 

In advance of the rainy season, the crews laid Bahia grass sod in the existing swales to create “bioswales” between holes 2 and 8, as well as on holes 3, 5, and 6.  As part of a larger drainage conveyance system, the bioswales will carry water away from the fairways and drain into channels that flow to the ponds on the golf course. The bioswales will help naturally filter and clean the water. The planned drainage conveyance system is a benefit to the course and surrounding community. Installation of the main line of the irrigation system is scheduled to start in June in preparation for grassing that begins in July. 

Construction of the Village is expected to begin in June as planned.

In April, the crew from Glase Golf completed the removal of the existing cart path and invasive vegetation. The crew continues to move, level and till the soil. Drainage infrastructure is currently being installed and rough shaping of the golf course has begun. Following detailed plans developed by Jacobsen Hardy Golf Design, Glase Golf has started to build golf course features, including tees, bunkers, and putting greens. 

The crew is excavating bedrock in targeted areas and the material will be crushed and reused as base material for the parking lot and building foundations of the “Village” buildings. 

The construction crews are following dust suppression protocols, which include regular watering of areas under construction to keep dust participles damp and help prevent them from going airborne. 

The construction of the Village is expected to begin in June. The Gate Golf Club has contracted DeAngelis Diamond, a nationally-recognized construction management firm to build the Village, which will include the covered hitting bays, restaurant, pavilion, concessions area, golf shop, cart barn, maintenance building, and First Tee – Naples/Collier facility.
