Here’s an update on progress made during November!
Course and Village Construction Update
We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving! We’re very grateful to our project partners for the tremendous progress at The Gate Golf Club.
The majority of the course is now sodded, and sprigging of the putting greens with TifEagle bermudagrass and the remaining fairways with Celebration bermudagrass will begin in early December.
Within the Village construction site, masonry walls rose across multiple buildings, giving the area greater definition, while structural steel is progressing at the Oakwood Grill restaurant.
At the same time, structural steel and metal roofing were installed at the Maintenance and Environmental buildings, which are on track to be completed next month.
Looking ahead, the driving range netting poles will be installed, giving the site a true driving-range appearance and providing a clearer picture of the facility’s final layout.
Site Visit from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Students
We had the pleasure of hosting students from the Florida Gulf Coast University PGA Golf Management Program (PGM) for an educational site visit. The field day provided an excellent opportunity to showcase how this course, designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, is being built with a focus on challenge, playability, and environmental sensitivity.
The students spent the day learning from our Superintendent, Mike Shafer, and our team about golf course construction and how this project will create more opportunities for people to enjoy golf. They gained hands-on insight into course feature shaping, irrigation and drainage systems, earthwork and lake development, and the sustainable practices we use to ensure the course is both high-quality and environmentally responsible.
